Batu Bolong’s reef top carries dense hard coral and large numbers of small reef fish, and from the surface on a clear day you look down onto a slope that keeps dropping past what you can see. Can non-swimmers join the boat?
Non-swimmers are welcome on board and can join the day for the scenery and the beach stops, but they will not be put in open water at the pinnacle. Where a nervous swimmer wants to try, the guide uses a buoyancy vest and a towed float in a sheltered spot first, and the decision to continue is theirs and the guide’s jointly. Do children need their own gear?
No, child-sized masks, fins, and vests are carried on board, but tell us ages and shoe sizes when you book so the right sizes are loaded. A mask that leaks is the single fastest way to end a child’s snorkelling day, so if your family owns masks that already fit, bring them. Fit is checked on deck before the first entry, not in the water.
What happens if the sea is rough on the day?
If the harbour restricts departures or the guide judges the crossing unsafe, the day is moved rather than run, and you are usually told the evening before or at dawn. Where the sea is workable but the pinnacle is not, the boat runs to sheltered sites instead and the trip goes ahead at the same price. Reschedule and refund terms are written into your quote before you pay.
